DAY ONE- From one of the USA Delegates from TSD
This morning, we had a delicious breakfast from Guatefriends, then we went
to oral school with Global Reach Out (GRO) members and Nurika. We found
that their perspective of oral is way different from our America's
perspective. Also, we saw students who still have passion of using sign
language with us while we can't sign to them. That was difficult for us to
see that, but we did enjoy meeting them.
After that, Niruka invited us to visit her organization, Asedes, to meet
other deaf Guatemalans along with delicious lunch. We learned new signs from
them and they do, too from us using ASL.
Finally, we went to beautiful Antigua from Guatemala City to stay and tour
for the rest of the week. For dinner, we went to hotel's restaurant and it
was so delicious!!! We ate steak, mini-potatoes, salad, rice, bread, and
Guatemalan soda. After that, we went back to hotel to rest and prepare for
tomorrow, a long hike on Pacaya Volcano!
Adios,
Tozzie
