Greg's Reflection: Day One
Greg's Reflection: I was sitting next to Georginia throughout this
particular dining experience... And let me tell you, boy I was in for a
surprise! Georgina and I were looking through the menu contemplating what to
order. I'm particularly aware of how Americans like to “supersize” their
dishes.. So I was feeling rather confident that these dishes were... quite
small. However, Georgina and I agreed to order the same dish... We were so
tempted by the sound of “Special Kinjera” (some kind of beef and feta on
top of a large tray of flat Injera). Mmmm.. Boy did it sound good. So, when
the waiter came by to take our order, Georgina and I both ordered the
“Special Kinjera.” The waiter did a double-take and asked us if we intended
to share a single plate. Of course, we absent-mindedly scoffed at the waiter
and said “No! We want two separate dishes!” For some reason the waiter gave
us a strange look, and asked us again for clarification.
For some reason we decided to assume the waiter was just crazy and didn't
understand us.... Then the food arrived.
… Boy were we surprised. :)
P.S. Norma had recommended that we all try a bottle of “Tusker,” (Kenyan
beer). So we had the opportunity to order it and it was amazing. I'm
definitely gonna go hunting for some that beer when I return to the States!
