Rian hails from the sunny island of Jamaica where he picked up Jamaican Sign Language and American Sign Language growing up. After graduating high school he went to study at Mount Aloysius community college for his AA degree in the United States. Rian then went on to study at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C., America's leading education institution for the deaf. There he completed his B.A in Business Administration, and also went on to graduate with honor with a Masters in International Development for persons with Disabilities. Specializing in setting up NGOs for the deaf to tackle the many problems that they face, Rian is also skilled in social enterprise, capacity building and advocating. Rian has experienced traveling to a few countries to study their cultures and the lives of deaf persons living in those developing countries. In the near future, Rian will head back home to Jamaica to implement a project he designed for the deaf community and to be an advocate for changes in the Jamaican Deaf Community.
