As a Deaf Minnesota native, Sarah grew up surrounded by a loving family and eventually graduated from the University of Minnesota as a teacher. After teaching for 6 years in Minnesota and abroad, she realized that her passion was not entirely in the field of education and began to learn more about international development leading to the decision to return to school and learn more about the development field. She is currently in her second year in Gallaudet’s International Development master’s program and is loving every minute! Her future goals involve working in West Africa with the deaf community to improve their living conditions. As an intern for GRO, Sarah is obtaining firsthand experience in how an organization operates and is participating in numerous activities, as well as becoming a delegate for GRO-India. She believes that organizations such as GRO can best contribute to the development of deaf communities worldwide and is excited to be part of the team! |
