India 2009

The Global Reach Out Initiative has completed its third delegation in India. Taking place in Kolkata, India where 7 highly motivated US delegates worked closely with 9 strong Indian delegates for 10 days with great results!

Collaboratively, the delegates created a 5 day curriculum for a Deaf Day Camp that was then provided for the Deaf Indian community at large where topics such as communication, culture, empowerment, crisis solution, and the art of Indian Sign Language (ISL) were taught.

After 10 days of working closely together, the results were outstanding! This could only have be done as a product of full cooperative work between all peer delegates and through the establishment of an enduring partnerships with local organizations such as Uddami and Shuktara that serve the deaf.
