Thailand — Spring 2007

The first official destination for GRO was Thailand. The process for applying to and developing the student delegation workshops was much more elaborate compared to the Philippines trip. GRO's targets were deaf students at RIT, and a total of twelve were accepted into the program after satisfying the application and interview requirements.

The director worked with an assistant to arrange accommodations and develop travel itineraries for the week-long stay in Thailand. Three student team leaders were chosen from the first trip to the Philippines in order to form teams that would give leadership workshops to deaf students in Thailand on various topics. The three teams met regularly over a period of several months to plan their workshops, and they were presented at the Sethsatian School for the Deaf in Thailand during RIT's spring holiday.

The delegates' workshops focused on leadership, role models, and achievement of dreams. From these three workshops, the Thai deaf students had the opportunity to realize their true potential in achieving any goal they could dream up.
